Let us pray for the Church and for the world. And let us thank God for his goodness

We thank you for the summer, both the sunshine and the rain, for the ripening fields and fruit trees, that its beauty reflects your joy in the world. We thank you for all that we have, for the gift of life itself in all its wonder.

There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. ”. As we recall these words from our NT reading we realise how far the world and our own nation fall short of this vision of unity and peace.

We commit to you all those who have been affected by horrific acts of war and terror
For those living in constant fear and uncertainty
We remember too all those suffering from the injustices of poverty and oppression
And all those who have been forced to flee their homes

Spirit of the living God, Come afresh on these lands.
Help your people to restore broken relationships.
Give them patience to break down barriers of suspicion and mistrust;
The ability to discern personal prejudices and the courage to overcome fear.
Teach them to respect each other’s integrity and rights
so that your kingdom may be established on earth.

We particularly remember the conflict over immigration both within Europe and the United States. We thank you that the US government is revoking its practice of separating Migrant Families and ask that other governments around the world will also recognise the humanity of all peoples and work for justice and peace for all.

Let us also pray for the ongoing negotiations as the UK plans to leave the European union, that those involved will seek a fair deal and the common good for all peoples of Europe

We remember our charity of the Samula school in Bihar india
We also the charity home instead

We commit to you our church and St Pauls during this vacancy time and thank you that David Stephenson and his family will be joining us soon. We ask that through David both Churches shall be able to flourish together and be able to reach out to organisations and peoples within and beyond our parishes.

We also thank you for the appointment Vivienne Faull as our new bishop for the diocese and ask that as Bishop she will support all traditions of your church and its five marks of mission and be a strong force for good in Bristol and the wider world.

We hold in our hearts all those who are suffering from afflictions in body, mind or spirit, especially those who have lost heart. We remember all those struggling with the isolation and loneliness illness and disability brings and ask that they would feel your presence in a real way. We also thank you for those who have recently recovered from illness.

With these words we pray for ourselves and others that we know, some others known only to you
Comfort and heal all those who suffer in body, mind or spirit, We think particularly of:

let us pray that those who have died may rest in peace and share in the Risen glory of Christ.
We particularly remember the many who have died tragically in wars around the world, at the hands of terrorists, and those who have taken their own lives. As Jesus wept at the tomb of his friend Lazarus we also commit to you all those who mourn for them

May God in his infinite love and mercy bring the whole church
Living and departed in the Lord Jesus, the first-born of the dead
To a joyful resurrection and the fulfilment of his eternal kingdom
Accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, Our saviour Jesus Christ. Amen
